Working with multiple components -- using selection and the Radial Context Menu
Within the Cloud Builder, you can select and act upon multiple components at once with the help of the Radial Context menu (RCM for short - you can also think it as "Right Click Menu"). This makes it often much faster and more fun to work when building large creatives.
With RCM you can:
Copy, Cut, Paste or Delete a single component
Copy, Cut, Paste or Delete multiple components at once;
Copy, Cut, Paste or Delete a specific property on a single component.
Paste or Delete a specific property on multiple components at once;
Specific Properties available for copying, pasting, cutting or deleting, compatible with the RCM;
- CSS (Paintbrush Menu)
- Change Background (Effects Menu)
- Text Content (In-Component)
How do I open RCM?
1) Select one or multiple components
Drag-selecting components on the canvas (with left click).
Selecting components by left clicking on them (hold down SHIFT or CTRL/CMD to select multiple).
2) Make sure the text edit mode is not active (if selecting only a single component)
Text edit mode indicated by a pulsating grey border;
To exit text edit mode, click the lower part of the component or simply press the ESC key.
3) Open RCM with right click
RIght click on the selected component(s) itself;
Right click anywhere inside the selection area;
TIP: You can close the RCM by pressing the ESC key or by clicking anywhere inside the selection area, this way the previous selection will be kept selected. If clicked outside of the selection area, RCM will be closed and the previous selection will be lost;
What's inside RCM?
Firstly, the RCM icons are always at the same location for better muscle memory and speed, in other words, they do not change places when some actions are not available.
Inner and Outer ring
The big inner ring is for operating with the entire component as a whole;
The small outer ring is for operating with the following component properties: Text, Style, and Background image;
Available actions
RCM only shows action icons that are available at that current moment. The available actions depend on your previous actions and selections. Unavailable actions are disabled.
In this example, the component has only text, but there are no styles or a background image defined. Thus only the text-icon is visible;
Simple copy and paste example
Copy pasting selected components as a whole using RCM and vertical context menu. Note how the cursor position plays an important role while pasting;
Copy pasting entire component(s) with the default CTRL/CMD + C and CTRL/CMD + V without opening RCM or vertical context menu;
TIP: You can also copy components and their properties between the creatives.
TIP: You can use CTRL/CMD + Z to undo your previous changes.
Advanced copy and paste example
Copying everything from one component, but only pasting text and style properties to other components. After which, pasting the background to only selected lower components.
TIP: You can press many RCM items in a row without closing the menu, if you hold the ALT key while clicking.
